Santoor is a trapezoid-shaped string instrument that has its roots in the Himalayan mountains of Kashmir. Loosely translated, it means a 100-stringed vina. The Santoor has been a part of folk music in Kashmir for many years but it was popularized around the world by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. He made it mainstream and explored its capabilities by including it in Bollywood films and concerts.
After the death of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, his prodigy and son Santoor Maestro Rahul Sharma continues to take his vision forward. This concert is a tribute to the legacy of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, a fusion of semi-classical music, accompanied by Ojas Adhiya on Tabla.
